Review: YSL Top Secrets Pro Remover

(picture from official YSL site)

The YSL Top Secrets Pro Remover is a bi-phased oil eye and lip makeup remover. It requires shaking to prior to use and is very effective to get rid of waterproof makeup (including mascara) yet being gentle. I usually saturate this on to a cotton pad, then place it over my eyelid, lips or any area I want to remove my makeup for a few seconds and wipe off with a firm hand. My normal everyday natural makeup usually comes off with 1 time wiping but when I do thick waterproof liner or mascara, it may take 2 or 3 times to get it fully off.   Sometimes I even put a few drops on a cotton bud to clean up smudged eyeliner or lipstick and this is so precise and effective!  I really like how it is so effective, efficient and gentle on my sensitive skin at the same time.

Pros:
-effective
-efficient
-gentle

Cons:
-none at the moment

Overall:
5/5

Review: Anna Sui Lose Powder

This post would be a sponsored product review from Shopper’s Drug Mart at Bayview and Major Mackenzie in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  (Their facebook page here.) The cosmetics manager there was very nice and generous to give me testers to review when I told her I was a beauty blogger. Having said this, what I write here is still my own honest opinion and my own experience with the products from my own experience. Thanks so much!!

The Anna Sui Lose Powder comes in a very cute black box which resembles an antique. It is not only aesthetically  pleasing but the product itself is great too. The lose powder is used to set liquid makeup products (such as liquid foundation, concealer ) which are on top of the skin. It leaves a matte finish and helps keep the makeup staying on longer. I noticed that this product did help with controlling the shine on my t-zone, especially around my nose area.

Inside the box comes included a puff applicator. Usually i just pat it on to the product a few times to get the lose powder out and then I patt it onto my face starting on the t-zone and then to my cheeks. It also helps to give an illusion of smooth skin after I apply this powder.

This is how it looks when applied to my hand which had foundation on. It has a matte finish and make my skin looks smooth.

Pros:
-keeps makeup staying on longer
-controls shine

Cons:
-none so far! i love it!

Overall
5/5

Review: Anna Sui Eye Brightener

This post would be a sponsored product review from Shopper’s Drug Mart at Bayview and Major Mackenzie in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  (Their facebook page here.) The cosmetics manager there was very nice and generous to give me testers to review when I told her I was a beauty blogger. Having said this, what I write here is still my own honest opinion and my own experience with the products from my own experience. Thanks so much!!

The Anna Sui Eye Brightener is a concealer for the under eye area AKA dark circles. I use this on top of foundation and it brightens up my dark circles while providing decent coverage. While experimenting with this, I decided that this would make a decent facial hi-lighter especially on the cheekbone area.  Again, it comes with the pleasant  rose scent that is in most of the Anna Sui products.

The packaging is so cute! A wand applicator is included and I use it to put a few dabs of product on to my problem areas then blend out with my finger. It also helps to make my eyeshadow stay on longer when I apply this on my eyelid.

This is how it looks when dabbed on my hand.

Blended! All bright and radiant!! Sometimes I think that if i go over this with a thin layer of foundation, it looks even more natural.

Pros:
-good coverage
-can be used as a hi-lighter
-brightens dark circles

Cons:
-does not cover up acne that well

Overall:
4.5/5

Review: Anna Sui Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation

This post would be a sponsored product review from Shopper’s Drug Mart at Bayview and Major Mackenzie in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  (Their facebook page here.) The cosmetics manager there was very nice and generous to give me testers to review when I told her I was a beauty blogger. Having said this, what I write here is still my own honest opinion and my own experience with the products from my own experience. Thanks so much!!

The rose scented Anna Sui Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation offers build-able coverage that can range from light to full coverage depending on the amount you use. I use half a pump on my face for a sheerer application which manages to even out my skin tone. A full pump offers medium coverage that makes my skin look flawless and sometimes I will use an extra amount of product on problem spots such as acne scars and redness to get full coverage. This foundation however is oil based,  so it is very moisturizing and extremely good for dryer climates and skintypes. It manages to stay for 6-8 hours on my combination skin with occasional touch up on the t-zone and some blotting. Setting it with a lose powder does prolong its wear for a few extra hours.

This is how one pump of foundation looks on my hand. I got color matched with a B02 shade. The texture is rather thick but is easily blend-able. The oil based formula sticks to my face easily and doesn't move much throughout the day.

This is the foundation looks blended on my hand. It gives a natural dewy finish that gives an impression of flawless skin. I am currently loving this foundation.

Pros:
-long lasting
-natural dewy finish
-build able coverage
-moisturizing

Cons:
-may not be suitable for oily skin type

Overall
5/5

Review: Yves Saint Laurent Forever Skincare Line

I have been trying the YSL Forever Youth Liberator skincare line for a little bit more than a week and it has impressed me very much. I have seen significant results after usage and my skin condition has become firmer, softer and more radient. It is an anti-aging line however, but since I do not have fine lines or wrinkles yet, I cannot comment on that part from my own personal usage. All the products in this line that I have tried contain the same fragrance which I find pleasant, but may be a little too strong for others.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator Day Cream

(picture taken from official YSL beauty site)

The day cream contains SPF 15 and comes in a rich texture that I find very moisturizing and leaves my face feeling very smooth and soft. It also acts great under makeup and I find that when I use this, I dont have the need to use a foundation primer. It has also helped made my sensitive and prone-to-flaking skin stronger and firmer.

The night cream comes in a similar texture to the day cream. It is very moisturizing and leaves my skin feeling soft. It can be a little bit too rich for oily skin types but it has made my thin combination sensitive skin on my cheeks feeling firmer and improved the overall texture of my facial skin.

                                                  YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum

The serum in my opinion is the star product of the line. It really has made improvements into my skin and has made it more radiant. I usually use it on top of toner and before moisturizer. For day, I sometimes think that this is moisturizing enough to use on its own without having a moisturizer on top in days with hotter and more humid weather. After using this for a week, my overall skin texture has been improved and skin tone has been more even.

Overall, I really enjoy the overall line of YSL's Forever Youth Liberator skincare line. It has made good improvements to my skin textures and made my complexion more even and radiant. It is also very moisturizing and leaves the face feeling soft and smooth

Pros:
-very effective and moisturizing
-nice scent ( but may be over powering to those who are sensitive to scents)
-makes skin radiant
-makes skin firmer

Cons:
-may be too moisturizing for those with oily skin

Overall:
5/5

Review: GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer

This post would be a sponsored product review from Shopper’s Drug Mart at Bayview and Major Mackenzie in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  (Their facebook page here.) The cosmetics manager there was very nice and generous to give me testers to review when I told her I was a beauty blogger. Having said this, what I write here is still my own honest opinion and my own experience with the products from my own experience. Thanks so much!!

The GOSH velvet touch foundation primer is true to its name when it says velvet, after applying this to my face, it feels smooth and soft.  It comes in a pump bottle and I think one pump is enough for my whole face. I usually spread it out from my inner cheeks to my outer and use whatever is reaming on the rest of my face. My pores are a blurred after applying this primer and it does help with making the foundation go on smoother without patches and dryness.

The primer comes out rather thick and is white in color, however when you blend it out, it is clear and matte. I have worn this primer on my sensitive combination summer skin, and this primer tends to get a bit oily on the 4~5 hour mark and does tend to move along my face leaving some patches and shine. However, when I tried it on someone with dry skin, this primer had managed to moisturize their skin and keep makeup on longer. So in conclusion, I think that this primer may work better on dryer skin types or in cool temperatures.

This is how it looks when it is blended on my skin. It kind of already looks smoother and softer.

Pros:
-makes your skin smooth and soft
-makes foundation go on smoother

Cons:
-may not be for oily skin types or hot weather

Who may like it:
People with dryer skin types or people who want a moisturizing primer.

Review: Rimmel Eyeshadow #700

This post would be a sponsored product review from Shopper’s Drug Mart at Bayview and Major Mackenzie in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  (Their facebook page here.) The cosmetics manager there was very nice and generous to give me testers to review when I told her I was a beauty blogger. Having said this, what I write here is still my own honest opinion and my own experience with the products from my own experience. Thanks so much!!

The Rimmel Eyeshadow comes in color 700, which is a sheer shimmer silver eyeshadow. I find that this eyeshadow is not very deeply pigmented, but has great shimmer and reflecting power. I personally do not use this as an all over lid color, but I find that this is great for hi-lighting the tear duct and the brow bone.

The top is a light wash of color, and the bottom is swatched heavily by reapplying the shadow a few times on the same area. As you can see, it is very beautifully shimmery and light reflecting, perfect for using around the inner tear duct!

Pros:
-very shimmery and light reflecting
-good for the tear duct and other hi-lighting

Cons:
-not very pigmented

Who may like it:
-anyone who wants a sheer eyeshadow for hi-lighting the inner tear duct or a sheer wash of shimmery color

Review: Olay Regenerist Eyecream and Lash Serum Duo

This post would be a sponsored product review from Shopper’s Drug Mart at Bayview and Major Mackenzie in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  (Their facebook page here.) The cosmetics manager there was very nice and generous to give me testers to review when I told her I was a beauty blogger. Having said this, what I write here is still my own honest opinion and my own experience with the products from my own experience. Thanks so much!!

The olay micro sculpting eyecream and lash serum duo comes with an eyecream on one side and a eyelash serum on the other side. The eyecream claims to give smoother lids with less wrinkles and fine lines while hydrating and using the lash serum to make thicker lashes. I usually apply the eyecream on my eye contour area first and then the lash serum on my upper lashes. As I have not yet developed wrinkles and  fine lines yet, I honestly cannot judge on the effects of the cream upon those concerns but I find that this cream is light and comfortable yet moisturizing!! After one week of using the lash serum, I have noticed that my lashes did get thicker and longer, not dramatically, but noticeable longer.  This is a great product and I will definitely buy another once I finish this.

Pros:
-moisturizing
-really does thicken and lengthen lashes
-convenient packaging

Cons:
-none at the moment

Who may like it
-anyone who wants a hydrating eyecream and longer/thicker looking eyelashes

Review: Vichy’s Normaderm 3-in-1 mask and Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa

This post would be a sponsored product review from Shopper’s Drug Mart at Bayview and Major Mackenzie in Richmond Hill, Ontario.  (Their facebook page here.) The cosmetics manager there was very nice and generous to give me testers to review when I told her I was a beauty blogger. Having said this, what I write here is still my own honest opinion and my own experience with the products from my own experience. Thanks so much!!

I have been given a tester of Vichy’s  Normaderm 3-in-1 mask which is a cleanser, exfoliator and mask all in one. I have been told that it could be used 2-3 times a week. This mask is great for combination and oily skin types and claims to reduce imperfections and control oil.

The texture of the Cream is rather thick and contains beads that I think are exfoliators. I spread a generous amount evenly on my face and then wait 5 minutes until it dries and massage off with warm water. After my first use, I have found that it effective and gentle on my skin at the same time.  It did not dry out my sensitive skin but it did in fact made it feel smooth, soft and moisturized. It also made my pores smaller and face more radiant.

Pros:
-effective
-efficient (3 steps in 1 and only takes 5 minutes!)
-lovely fragrance

Cons:
-may be a little hard to wash off

Overall
4.5/5

Another product that I tried was the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa, which is a leave on sleeping mask that comes in a light gel texture which was to be used 1-3 times/ week before sleep. It claims to be deep hydrating and can be used on all skin types. I applied this after the 3-in-1 mask and the results were great. My skin felt very hydrated and non-sticky after I applied this mask. It leaves a dewy finish, which absorbs within 10 minutes making the texture of the skin really soft and smooth.

Pros:
-very hydrating
-lightly scented
-makes skin smooth and is non sticky

Cons:
-I haven’t had trouble with this at the moment….

Overall
5/5
